By Borja Bes — CrossFit Athlete & Hyrox Finisher
Anti-Rotation Walkout is dynamic anti-rotation training that changes leverage without turning the movement into a fast conditioning drill. Equipment: Resistance band or cable, Secure anchor. To establish a repeatable position, hold the band at the chest while standing side-on to the anchor with the trunk braced. From there, take small steps away from the anchor, pause at the planned tension, then return while keeping the torso square. The movement belongs in deliberate strength, accessory, or compatible conditioning work rather than being added randomly for novelty. Choose a clear path and light enough resistance to prevent the feet crossing or the spine rotating. Select resistance that preserves the intended pattern from the first repetition to the last.
Quick answer
Anti-Rotation Walkout is dynamic anti-rotation training that changes leverage without turning the movement into a fast conditioning drill. Use repeatable sets of Anti-Rotation Walkout and scale before breathing speed causes range of motion or control to disappear.

| Best for | Anti-Rotation Walkout conditioning when the goal is repeatable output through obliques and transverse abdominis, with a version that matches the athlete's current capacity. |

| Avoid if | Avoid or scale Anti-Rotation Walkout if pain changes the movement or the intended position cannot be controlled. Correct this common fault before adding volume: skipping the setup details: hold the band at the chest while standing side-on to the anchor with the trunk braced. |
| Scaling | Use fewer steps or keep the hands close to the chest. |
Prepare the equipment and space: hold the band at the chest while standing side-on to the anchor with the trunk braced.
Brace before creating tension and confirm that the working joints feel comfortable.
Perform the repetition: take small steps away from the anchor, pause at the planned tension, then return while keeping the torso square.
Pause briefly in the strongest position instead of using momentum to rush through it.
Return under control, reset balance and tension, then begin the next repetition.
Skipping the setup details: hold the band at the chest while standing side-on to the anchor with the trunk braced.
Using more resistance than can be controlled through the complete range.
Turning a strength or accessory movement into a rushed conditioning repetition.
Ignoring the main safety boundary: Choose a clear path and light enough resistance to prevent the feet crossing or the spine rotating.
Focus on this action: take small steps away from the anchor, pause at the planned tension, then return while keeping the torso square.
Use a smooth return; the eccentric phase should look as organised as the working phase.
End the set when posture, joint alignment, or anchor stability changes.
Progress tension or load only after every repetition follows the same path.
Easier / Beginner
Use fewer steps or keep the hands close to the chest.
Harder / Advanced
Press the arms forward, increase the walkout distance, or use a split stance.

Anti-Rotation Walkout works best when its movement pattern and setup match the session. Use it for controlled strength, accessory, or specifically compatible conditioning work, not simply to increase exercise count.
Use fewer steps or keep the hands close to the chest. Once every repetition is stable, progress with this option: Press the arms forward, increase the walkout distance, or use a split stance.
Choose a clear path and light enough resistance to prevent the feet crossing or the spine rotating.
